The Maya nCloth test

Maya nCloth can create fabric dynamics. But it has much character that need understanding and adjusting, thus we can find appropriate effects. In this experimentation, I just try to adjust two characters that can produce various transformation of fabric. I have recorded to adjust “Stretch Resistance and Compression Resistance ” of value. I use one fabric to observe their transformation of different value.

1.  First, to use Maya basic value of beginning

    Stretch Resistance 20, Compression Resistance 1

We can clearly see the fabric is very soft, look like cotton

2.      Then, trying decrease Stretch Resistance and Compression Resistance to zero

Stretch Resistance 0, Compression Resistance 0

  

This produce awful transformation, the fabric has not flexibility. However, the fabric can create striking effect.

3.      Increase Stretch Resistance to 200 but don’t change Stretch Resistance

   Stretch Resistance 200, Compression Resistance 0

4.      Compression Resistance is also increase to 200

This test than the first test is not significantly different, apparently, Stretch Resistance and Compression Resistance must need big different value will show the fabric discrepancy.

5.      Stretch Resistance decrease to 0, Compression Resistance maintain 200

The fabric like second test produce huge influence, therefore, we know the Stretch Resistance too low cause to the fabric has not flexibility.

In the Maya nCloth have a lot of character must to adjust, this time only control two character but that can create various fabric, after I still try to test other character and add object of collision.

about fashion model

When we talk about the fashion show, model and cloth are necessary elements of fashion show. According to Hamly (1997) fashion model is evolved by artist’s model. In the twentieth century, as abstract art triumphed, the artist’s model literally fell out of the picture. However, when the camera can present accuracy of picture, the media of the magazine let model to become popular, therefore, models were gradually connected to fashion.

In general, fashion models are distinguished three types, paint modeling, runaway modeling and supermodels. Wikipedia.org (n.d) states Print modeling showcases clothes for photographs used in magazines, newspapers, advertisements, billboards, press kits, etc. Supermodels are highly paid, high profile fashion models. These (usually female) celebrities appear on top fashion magazine covers, in catalogues, and in fashion shows. Runway modeling Main articles: Size zero and Female body shape Runway models showcases clothes from fashion designers, fashion media, and consumers. They are also called "live models" and they are self employed. Runway models work in different locations. The runway modeling is directly display to customer. Therefore, the runaway model can complete show fashion designer of design, how to make cloth presents beauty and attraction, the model is very significant role of fashion show.

In the traditional fashion show we can see fashion always walk on the fashion runway, but many fashion designers start apply technology to present their design, especially, using film is common approach. When the fashion show use film to present, the model is no longer confined, they can dance, jump, that is different from traditional fashion show. My Drawing

I have started some drawing that helping me continue my thought about my project. I still draw the animation draft of project, although the draft could be changed.

 Using big screen to display that  is suitable for fashion. I intend to fit  several screen together, I have thought screens interlace can produce some visual effect. If screen can move, that could create more effect for audience. However, this thought is not easy to carry out because this could need many people such as technical guidance, fishion model, light etc. I want to practice this thought, but I still cinsider more detail.

Before post I talk about environment, using 3D animation can create no gravity space. That also can let audience watch different view, therefore, I draw this picture.

Fabric flowing is very beautiful, adding body can make a lot of effect. If fabric have pattern that can create different style and feeling, for this reason, I hope can present flowing of clothes.

To Create the Environment

Sometimes I ask myself why I want using animation combine with fashion show? I think animation can do some impossibility, such as creating space without gravity, changing material of matter, etc. Indeed, animation can increase visual effect of  fashion show but garment is main role in the fashion. Therefore, I think using animation on the fashion show that emphasis is environment of creating.

 According to Parmal, P and Grumbach, D (2006: 122) some of his most influential collections have been those focusing on the relationships between clothing, the environment, architecture, and technology. Therefore, environment is important on the fashion show. In addition,  architecture and technology also have significant part on the fashion show. However, animation not only can produce environment but also create fictitious place. Although this example has done to combine animation with fashion show, I still hope to create different visual effect. Environment is very important, that relate to audience's feeling. Using animation increase value of fashion show that need thought and research.

Human Body

Essentially,  human body is very beautiful art. It can show complex and dynamic line by rhythm. Currently, fashion have used body to create film, because  human body can perfectly display aesthetic feeling. Therefore, we usually can see people is naked in the film. Why I want talking human body? most fashion show always model walk in the runway but they have not extra motion. I think this is a pity. People can display a lot of motions and perception, even present the spirit. If body act with garment, it can create sense of beauty and rhythm. A number of performance also use fabric with body to show their creation.

Consequently, some fashion website have added "Body" item. If fashion show can like danceing, that will be very interesting. For the reason, I want to try more act in my project.

William Kentridge

William Kentridge, I was not know this person before.When I borrow "William Kentridge" this book, I am just attracted for photo of book. But I find some film about his creation on internet, I am shaked. Most people still think animation must like Disney, Dreamworks etc, but animation should not be limited. I want research exhibition of animation but about "how to display animation" this information is not easy discovery.
William Kentridge give me alot of inspiration, his creation let me want do more experiment and research. Maybe animation still can create more visual effects.

Gorillaz live show

Gorillaz, this is amazing rock band, a animate band. Although createing music still need real people to make, these animate roles have successfully told the public they are existent. I dont need to introduce too much about them, because they were already famous band. However, they ever live appearance at MTV European Music Awards in 2005. In this award ceremony these animate roles like real people to perform on the stage. it is groundbreaking animation show. I think that animation certainly can select more way to present. This case is very nice example. If animation can put in any different space or place, animation will be more interesting and create more likelihood.
